Sansanee Boonyad

I create my works mostly from my intuition. I enjoy the feeling of freedom and the exploration of the mysterious elements in the act of creating. Nature—especially roots and branches of trees—and portraiture are the elements that I am attracted to the most. I like to observe different aspects of my surrounding and the conditions of people that we do not always see. This practice has helped me to be more emphatic and open-minded.

My medium is not limited to drawing . I have used a wide range of art media such as ink, watercolor, oil, and acrylic. I base my determination of the medium selection on which one is the best suited for my projects. Mark-making and brushwork go hand in hand in my practice. Freedom and energetic experimentation is a part of who I am.

I am currently in the process of learning about the relationship between the art making and my inner-self. When I paint and draw, I explore the depth of my emotions and unconscious mind to understand my interior being. Creating art is a way of exploring and reaching to my inner wisdom. The process of seeking has become part of my destination; it leads me to a new truth I would not otherwise have found.
